Time Is The Sulpher In The Veins Of The Saint
Season Of Mist/Noevida
Jan 2010
So brings forth 2010 and in my case many highly anticipated releases, one of those being Abigors latest assault"TIME IS THE SULPHER IN THE VEINS OF THE SAINT" which come on the heels of 2007's FRACTAL POSSESION which was anything but accesible,a very strange but uniquely satisfying release.Well sulpher definately makes Fractal seem like a very accesible record.Divided into 2 unamed parts the album clocks in at or around 36 minutes and is a complete headfuck to say the least. This band continues to move away from what is acceptable by their fanbase, this album would definately appeal to someone into say fantomas,mr bungle, even cynic! Not to say that the bands blackest of sonic approaches is absent because that is far from the case here. While electronic noise is a huge part of this release, the vocals scream of depravity and this is one of the few records of this type where the bass is clearly up in the mix with drowning out the guitars, which at times seem thin. This release as well of the band has always treaded on the realms of the outsider.Although this was a difficult listen,it is also a grower that to these ears got better each time i listened to it.I continued to feel like i was in the middle of some twisted bizzare satanic ritual while being overdosed with lsd,not a comforting situation, but an interesting one to say the least! While some purists will dismiss this release,i think it will be one of those albums that is labeled a classic in the future, and may be very well responsible for a wave of avant garde clones, ready to take the throne away from bands like arcturus and solefald, fans of those 2 bands will love this album. For open minded ears only!!
