Weapon - Drakonian Paradigm Review

Weapon - Drakonian Paradigm
Full-length, The Ajna Offensive
June 24th, 2009

Drakonian Paradigm is the debut of the occult black metal band Weapon .
Interesting fact is, that founded in Canda, the band relocated to Bangladesh for some years and later returned to Canada again.
The cultural influences can be heard over the complete album in both musical and lyrical aspects.
Weapon use to mix their black/death metal with fragile acoustic parts without sounding like a "gothenburg-rip off"
partially the song structures remind me slightly of Death and Dornenreich, but this realease has definitely it's own character.
The opener, "Weapon" is held completely instrumental and shows the listerner that this band got skill!
The following songs reflect the earlier mentioned scheme with some very interesting fragile acoustic and technical parts.
"Drakonian Paradigm: The Flame Of All" is the heartpiece of this album and a real earcatcher.
The last song "Remnants Of A Burnt Mosque" switches frequently between traditional metal and oriental riffs.

Overall the whole album is a real gem for those who are into the occult black metal and should be listened to carefully!

9/10
