Nazxul - Iconoclast REVIEW

Full-length, Moribund Records/Eisenwald
July 27th, 2009

Australian blackers' Nazxul are back with a new album.
Although my promo of "Iconoclast" was corrupt - leaving only 9 tracks of readable media - and the remaining files contained 5(!) intros, the actual songs are classy melo-blackness!
This band sounds to me like a "blacker" version of early Dimmu Borgir.
With an huge amount of dominant keyboards, who are mostly surprisingly wellplaced in the background, they are giving the songs a nice unholy touch and feel.
Downside however is, that if you skip all intros, the keys can get quite annoying after some songs.
But from "Dragon Dispitous" until the 4th "real" track "Set in Array" you get fast guitars and drums as well as harsh vocals the way they should be.

Result:
This album - as far as i can judge it by the 4 songs and intros - is fine for those who are into the melodic black metal.
comparsions with the "big names" of this genre can clearly be made.
And it should be listened to without skipping.

6/10
