PANTHEON I "Worlds I Create" - Review.

Pantheon I come from Norway and play thrashing black metal that is sometimes melodic, sometimes heavy and crushingly violent. It is all very well produced and the songs have many time changes. It is progressive and atmospheric at the same time. I will give them that they do a good job of doing both. The parts are well played and the vocals are good. There are some weird keyboard/sample effects that come up in the songs as well. Like some orchestra that is playing deep down in the basement when these guys recorded this album. It's kind of weird in the mix.The songs are quite long and they have quite a bit going on in them. The drums are triggered but not totally generic sounding. The music is well produced but not too clean, it fits fine. I'm mot a fan of keyboards in black metal and they are here, but it is not that loud in the mix of things. Not that every song sounds the same, but they are all very similar. It reminds me of a concept album almost. Not sure if it is but the songs all fit the same crazy structure. These guys are good, not my "cup of tea" as they say but not crap at all. Quite impressive playing and you can tell it is done with a lot of conviction. Now this might be "Black Metal From Norway" but don't expect a classic sound. This is too modern for the purists. The track listing is as follows: "Myself Above All"Defile the Trinity", "Serpent Christ", "Ascending", "Burn the Cross", "Bannlyst", "The Last Stand", "Written in Sand". Not great, not bad. Pretty good album from Pantheon I.
