WITCHMASTER "Trucizna" - Review.

Photobucket

These Polish maniacs (who now are in England) have been around since 1996 and have been one of the bands that I listen to on a regular basis. At various times members of Behemoth, Incantation, Vader, Christ Agony and others have been in this band. But who cares about all that shit. What is important is the music that the band does. This is their 4th full length album. Their 2002 album "Masochistic Devil Worship" remains of total black/death/thrash classic. One of my favorite albums of all time and I love to listen to on killing sprees, drinking binges and poser abuse. "Trucizna" starts off with the title track and it is the same crazy ass black/death/thrash that these fuckers have been doing for a decade and a half. "Self-Inflicted Divinity" is next up and does the skank to blast to one two beat bangers all very well. The vocals are nice and fucked up and evil gargles of hate. "Total Annihilation" destroys everything in site like a bomb and is a total Venom type mid paced banger until it gets fast as fuck. The music and arrangements are sloppy at times and the production is good but sometimes stuff gets lost. But that shit doesn't really matter because the heart and conviction of these maniacs is all that matters. "Road To Treblinka" starts of with all kinds of death noise chaos that Witchmaster are famous for, then once the blast beat hits and the vocals come in all hell breaks loose. There is a killer thrash middle part that then goes back into the blast grind chaos. "Two-Point Suicide" starts off with crazy drums rolls then goes into another crazy blast part. Another cool thrashy mid paced part after a few blasts and back and forth. It sounds as if the guys recorded this live, straight off the board with no mixing, which is fine by me! Clean production is for wimps. "Back To The Bunker" seems to be a bonus song not listed on the song list but this one is another blasting banger mixed with killer one two beat fast parts and mid paced double bass madness. The guitar solos are always killer and fit the brutality very well. "Bred In Captivity" comes next with a killer opening riff that then blasts away and goes back and forth with another killer mid paced banger. "Black Scum" is the official album closer and starts off with a chugging guitar riff that has a slow build up. Sounds killer. The higher thrash metal notes come in later with the build up and the the song takes off with a killer fast beat. The sing a longs are great on here! Great song! The demo version of the title track actually ends the CD. It's a total raw version(even rawer than the production) of the song and sounds fucking awesome. What has been, and still is, so great about Witchmaster is that they mix the Black/Death/Thrash/Crust Punk so well. They were always like a hybrid of Discharge, Venom and Terrorizer to me and they still are. They have that early Sodom vibe down as well. This is dirty ass metal. And if it ain't fucking great! Cheers to Ibex Moon for getting this out over in the U.S.
