Fear Factory-Mechanize Review

Fear Factory-Mechanize
Candlelight Records
Feb 2010

Ok so i will be the first to admit that back in the mid '90's i liked fear factory's album DEMANUFACTURE,it was heavy and innovative(at the time)and i will admit i was into it for a period.Well now it is 2010 and the overall estehtics of metal have changed 1000 times over, trends have come and gone, but yet yet here we are graced with another fear factory album(and a comeback of sorts too!)Holy fucking shit if this doesn't sound like the last pile of shit they dumped on us.Listen here guys, you can't keep rehasing the same ideas over and over again. That only works for certain bands and fear factory..well you are not one of those bands!!The reason for this comeback is beyond me?I guess divine heresey(please kill me) wasn't working out. From the opening title cut all the way to the ending track final exit,i literally had to force myself to sit thru this!!When done well industrial style extreme metal can be a rewarding listen, but this album just stinks of bullshit! It is repetitive,i feel like they used the same intro on every track, granted burtons still got a nice range vocally, but i just can't get into dino's chugga chugga riffs over and over again. There a quite a few other bands who do this much better(i.e. Meshuggah)and i can't really listen to that either without getting a headache.Say what you want but i am sure fanboys of '90's roadrunner metal will lap this shit up.And just for measure what the fuck is up with candlight? They were a great label in the '90's even the earlier parts of the 2000's,but i think they are following the roadrunner blueprint sad to say.So that is it.Some will like this,i sure as fuck don't.Red Harvist this is not!!
