Mord (Norway) interview 7-08

..Mord Interview with Necrolucas by Bastard Son of God..

Bastard: The new album is excellent, it's been out for a few months now. How has the response been for it?

Necrolucas: Hail Satan! The response is quite ok, there are plenty of enthusiastic reviews as wells as a lot of critical ones. We don't really care about it, because MORD is just a reflection of our musical tastes and it was created to satisfy our needs.

Bastard: It seemed like awhile before you found a new label. Was the album recorded before you signed with Osmose. How have they been treating you and do you feel as though you have found the right label for Mord?

Necrolucas: Yes. Again we were forced to record the album first and then start to look for a label. We feel very comfortable with Osmose and they seem to understand MORD's ideology.

Bastard: You are from Farsund. How far is this in relation to Bergen and Oslo? Did it have any effect on you having a full lineup or do you feel better and more comfortable as a duo?

Necrolucas: Actually only Nordra lives in Norway, my home is still in Poland. Farsund is quite far from Bergen and several hours by car from Oslo. MORD is a duo because we don't need more people in the band.

Bastard: The new album is crushing and seems to be a bit more black metal. Do you compose your music a specific way? Was the direction of the new material done purposely this way?

Necrolucas: We don't have regular rehearsals, the core of the album is usually composed during my short stays in Norway while the final arrangements are made in studio during the recording session. It was the same with "Necrosodomic Abyss" and will be the same with the next album.

Bastard: What would you say is the biggest difference between the new album and christendom perished? Do you feel as though the band is continually developing its sound?

Necrolucas: The new album is better in every possible dimension, starting with sound and arrangements ending with artworks and layout. We develop not only our sound but also improve our skills and this is what you hear on "Necrosodomic Abyss".

Bastard: To someone just getting into extreme music, what would he/she expect to hear from Mord?

Necrolucas: Expect straightforward and vulgar ultra-fast Black Metal, what more can I say (laughs)?

Bastard: Who/what are your inspirations as a musician? When did you start getting into the scene?

Necrolucas: Our beginnings reach into the mid-nineties. We were and still are inspired by the originators and the most influential bands of both Black and Death Metal, e.g. Deicide, Beherit, Darkthrone, Bestial Warlust, Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Incantation etc.

Bastard: You have been around now for almost 9 years and are now starting to get some recognition. Where would you like to see Mord in the future?

Necrolucas: Much further than today, hard to tell where exactly.

Bastard: What are the plans for the band now that the album has been released? Any plans for touring or a possibility you could make it over to the U.S.?

Necrolucas: We have been composing new Opuses already. There are some plans to play live but we're waiting for serious offers from anywhere, including U.S.

Bastard: Thanks you for your time, any final words or comments?

Necrolucas: Praise Satan and deny false sanctity.
